Faces of Domestic Violence

What does a DV Victim or Survivor look like?  Can you pick them out around you?  1 in 8 women are affected by DV, one every 16 seconds.  That is just the women, that doesn't count the children, and the men that are affected by DV.

To you, what does a DV Victim look like?  Are they disheveled, mussed up hair, depressed looking?

DV Victims look just like the rest of us.  Many are so used to wearing masks that they hide their pain and feelings behind, that you would never know that they were being abused, not until they came out and told you, or you happen to see a bruise.

Victims are Doctors, Nurses, Secretaries, Teachers, Stay at Home Moms, Home School Moms, Lawyers, Social Workers, Waitresses, etc.  Abuse does not discriminate!

Every one of the people in the pictures above are DV Survivors!  Every one of these pictures are of those that have lived through abuse of many different forms.

Can you tell that they are DV Survivors?

Next time you go to work, to the store, to church, out and about around others, look around you, remembering that 1 in 8 are being abused.  Who around you may be being abused?
